In April 1983 the terrorist movement Shinning Path arrived to the small town of Lucanamarca and slaugthered 69 people including 20 children, almost the entire town in vengance for lack of cooperation. Only a few working on the fields and some left for dead survived the massacre.

All the bodies were burried by the survivors in eight diffrent graves.

Nineteen years after the massacre some independant entities formed The Commission for Truth and Recociliation to help people affected by terrorist violence to overcome the trauma.

As part of the process the remains were recovered, identified and given proper burial ceremony.
